The night prayer

1. O you who wraps himself [in clothing],

2. Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little -

3. Half of it - or subtract from it a little

4. Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation.

5. Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.

6. Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.

7. Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.

8. And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.

And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.

63. And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,

64. And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]

16. They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.

17. And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.

15. Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs,

16. Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.

17. They used to sleep but little of the night,

18. And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness,

Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.
